Fire in the Hole!

As many of you know, Jesse is mesmerized…make that obscessed with firemen, fire trucks, fire safety and fires in general!. When he’s not listening his police scanner he’s perusing the nationally-based firehouse website for stories of fires around the country. He also frequents websites honoring fallen firefighters. His bulletin board is flooded with pictures of firemen from around the country as well as our local heroes at Owasso Station One.

Twice yearly, Jesse & Jacob feed the Owasso firemen from all three stations at Station One. I’m not sure exactly how it started but Jesse decided after their first litter of puppies sold, to use a portion of the proceeds to give to a missionary and then another to feed the firemen. The tradition has continued and every 6 months Jesse contacts the fire chief and sets up a night where they can bring in a meal. We are honored to have the most respectable and humble firemen to serve. I can think of no better heroes for my children.

We are also very fortunate that every time Jesse & Jacob feed them, we get a tour of the station, including the ladder trucks and ambulances. One time they even let us go into the dormitory and use the thermal-imaging equipment to locate a “missing person”…in the dark! Braeden hid under one of the bunks and then they turned off the lights. We entered the entirely black room and were able to follow all his foot and handprints with this special tool. It was amazing.
